Adaptive Aerial Lessons

We believe aerial and circus arts are limitless in their potential, unbound by any rigid curriculum. Our Adaptive Aerial Lessons and classes are suited for students who are not best served by our general classes.

Whether you are working with physical limitations, overcoming a fear of heights, or simply want to slow down and engage in dancing between the ground and the air, we take a collaborative approach to help you you live your best life.

Some of our students have physical limitations, are overcoming traumatic experiences or have learning differences that make learning in a group setting overwhelming.

Some of the potential adaptations we can offer include: low impact warm-ups, creative exercises in low aerial silk knots, mindfulness, breathing and other emotional co-regulation exercises and one-on-one support that centers your needs and desires throughout the whole session.

This offering was born out of a collaboration with occupational therapists and researchers in a Neuromotor Clinic, collaborations with mental health professionals and our desire to create offerings in line with our mission and company values.

Intro to Aerial Course

Our intro course is designed for people who are brand new to aerial silks as an art form. In this course, we introduce students to the fundamentals of form and technique. Students will learn to wrap foot locks, execute several poses low to the ground, and start to get comfortable being upside down. Students in this level will work on strength, body awareness, and comfort in the air. Students may spend a couple of sessions at this level while they build core and upper body strength.

Pre-requisites:

  • Ability to hang from one’s hands briefly

  • Ability to engage safely in moderate physical activity

Not everyone who may enjoy aerial as a physical and creative outlet is comfortable or physically enabled to participate in our Intro to Aerial curriculum. We also offer adaptive lessons that allow you to go at your own pace and co-design a curriculum that works for your specific needs. This allows us to offer affirming space tailored to your specific needs for folks with chronic pain, neuromotor disorders, social anxiety, learning disorders and other access needs.

Intro to AcroYoga / Partner Acrobatics

Our intro course is designed for those who are brand new to AcroYoga and partner acro. This art form involves two or more people lifting, moving, and supporting eachother through various acrobatic movements and balances. Students will work in small groups and learn the fundamentals of basing, flying and spotting. At Cirqulation, we value accessibility and strive to create curriculum that offers a variety of progressions. We integrate and emphasize consent education and enforce policies to protect our students physical and emotional safety. There is an inherent risk and danger in all strength based art forms so we encourage you to consult a doctor if you have any health concerns.
